Verso la fine dell'estate, questo bruco di macaone stava mangiando a testa in giù lo stesso rametto di finocchietto su cui era aggrappato, mentre mangiava indietreggiava fino a divorarlo in un minuto. Dopo è risalito sul ramo principale in cerca di altri teneri germogli. Questo è l'ultimo bruco della stagione estiva 2021 che ho allevato fin da quando era una larva, ora è una crisalide in attesa della primavera per schiudersi

Ciao, per prima cosa metto ogni volta tanti rametti di finocchietto quanti sono i bruchi nel box così ognuno ha il suo e non si disturbano tra loro.
Durante la loro vita i bruchi girano avanti e indietro per tutta la scatolina fermandosi ogni tanto per fare la muta o mangiare.
Questa loro continua esplorazione serve proprio a fargli capire qual è il posto migliore per fare la crisalide (anche in natura succede così).
Io comunque lascio dei rametti di legno attaccati al soffitto del box in verticale per invogliari a farla lì perchè è più semplice e ordinato, ma capita che qualche volta la fanno proprio sul soffitto (la parte con i forellini per l'aria) MrGreen
In ogni caso non li disturbo mai, faccio sempre decidere a loro dove posizionarsi, sono molto intelligenti, i box sono grandissimi e hanno tutto lo spazio a sufficienza per fare la crisalide dove vogliono senza porblemi.
Osservo spesso la crisalide, quando diventa trasparente e si intravedono il giallo e il rosso delle ali del macaone, vuol dire che manca poco alla nascita, molto spesso vedo anche gli occhi Sorriso
Negli ultimi istanti di attesa la tengo sempre sotto osservazione e appena inizia la schiusa la porto in giardino con tutta la cassettina.
Quando il macaone è completamente uscito deve abituarsi alla sua nuova veste, e soprattutto distendere le ali pompando la ninfa nelle nervature. Per fare questo impiega dai 30 ai 60 minuti.
Dopo che ha disteso le ali ed è in grado di muoversi con le zampine, lo posiziono su un posatoio, cerco di fargli qualche foto e lo osservo fino a quando spontaneamente non volerà via. Molto spesso mi è successo che restavano sul posatoio anche 1-2 ore permettendomi di fare con calma anche le foto.
Sono molto goffi i loro movimenti dopo la nascita e gli piace stare sul dito della mia mano mentre distendono le ali, non salgono mai subito sul posatoio MrGreen
Ovviamente bisogna maneggiare con cura sia i bruchi che le farfalle, mai forzarli a cambiare posizione.
Ho cercato di riassumere il più possibile, ma bisogna essere precisi in queste cose
Allevo spesso anche altre specie, ma le indicazioni da seguire sono quasi sempre le stesse
