Canne della Battaglia è uno dei più importanti siti archeologici della Puglia e si trova a poca distanza dai comuni di Barletta, Andria e Canosa. Il suo nome ricorda la famosa battaglia di Canne avvenuta nel 216 A.C., una delle più importanti della seconda guerra punica. La città romana sorse tra il VI e IV secolo A.C. e qui nel 216 A.C. si svolse la battaglia di Canne che segnò una dura sconfitta per i romani per mano dell'esercito di Annibale, che seppur inferiore numericamente riuscì ad avere la meglio grazie a un espediente tattico conosciuto come "manovra a tenaglia".
