Specie diffusa nella Groenlandia orientale, isole Svalbard e isole Zemjla. Sverna alle isole Britanniche, Olanda e Norvegia. E' una specie gregaria, tranne nel periodo riproduttivo. Piuttosto rara alle nostre latitudini.
