Per raggiungere questa location all'Ape Devero sveglia alle 04:00 e partenza alle 4.30 alle 6.00 sono sul posto ed inizia la salita, il dislivello è notevole ma la fatica è ampiamente ripagata lo spettacolo è indescivibile. “ Il Lago Nero è una delle perle di Devero: uno specchio d'acqua limpida e scura in cui si riflettono le linee tormentate delle Guglie del Cornera e delle montagne circostanti. All'intorno, larici e abeti si ergono da un caotico ammasso di sassi coperti da cespugli di rododendri e mirtilli. Sulle sponde e nelle acque del piccolo lago vivono colonie di rane e di tritoni. All'intorno i grandi lariceti subalpini, radi e luminosi, che un tempo ospitavano il pascolo alberato.”
