Presbiterio --- La basilica di San Vitale è uno dei più famosi ed importanti luoghi di culto cattolici di Ravenna, la cui costruzione iniziò nel 532 d.C. e terminò nel 547 d.C., esemplare capolavoro dell'arte paleocristiana e bizantina. Nell'ottobre del 1960, papa Giovanni XXIII la elevò alla dignità di basilica minore. La basilica è inserita, dal 1996, nella lista italiana patrimonio dell'umanità dall'UNESCO, all'interno del sito seriale "Monumenti paleocristiani di Ravenna". (da Wikipedia)

Beautiful this too :-) San Vitale is a saint venerated also in my city, in the homonymous hamlet, where there is a small country church dedicated to him. :-) I was unaware, until today (and thanks to your beautiful photos) that there was even a basilica dedicated to the saint 8-)
