La Bugatti Type 101 venne costruita in solo 9 esemplari... comprensivi di un prototipo... negli anni compresi fra il 1935 ed il 1965. Tutte le vetture hanno un telaio derivato da quello della precedente Type 57 ed hanno ricevuto differenti allestimenti quindi ognuna è un'esemplare unico: questa visibile in fotografia dovrebbe essere l'unica in versione Coupé e fu preparata dalla Carrozzeria di Jean Antem sita a Courbevoire (F)... probabilmente a partire dal 1951. La Type 101 era dotata di un motore con 8 cilindri in linea di 3257 cm3 con doppio albero a camme in testa che nella versione aspirata sviluppava 135 cavalli di potenza mentre nella versione "C"... cioè dotato di compressore di tipo volumetrico Roots... i cavalli diventavano 190. La vettura qui visibile ha fatto parte per diversi anni della collezione del famoso attore Nicolas Cage.
