la città di Palmyra (sposa del deserto) -deve il suo nome alla traduzione greca dall'arabo Tadmur (palma)- è stata la capitale del regno con la regina Zenobia- si trova a circa 200 km dalla città Deir-er-zar sull'Eufrate- ha subito nel 2013 gravi danni da parte degli estremisti dell'Isis, fermati poi nel 2016 dai siriani- un'autentico gioiello che ho avuto la fortuna di ammirare e detestabile l'accanimento di distruzione per ciò che non appartiene alla propria ideologia...
