La Moldava è il fiume che attraversa Praga ma, soprattutto, è il fiume nazionale del popolo ceco. Nasce da una doppia sorgente tra i boschi della Selva Boema, la vasta e affascinante zona montuosa della Boemia sudoccidentale, che si estende lungo il confine con la Germania e l'Austria. Un vero paradiso verde, con alte vette, torbiere lucenti, laghi gelidi, rumorose cascate e foreste vergini. Questa zona offre al visitatore panorami tra i più belli della Repubblica Ceca. Luoghi talmente suggestivi da aver ispirato il compositore ceco Bedrich Smetana (1824-1884) che è riuscito ad esprimere in note la poesia dell'intero corso del fiume. 'La Moldava' (titolo originale “Vltava”, nome ceco del fiume) fa parte di un poema sinfonico intitolato 'Ma vlast' ovvero ' La mia patria', ed è insieme una vivida descrizione dell'incedere dell'acqua, dove si legge la metafora del cammino dell'uomo verso un obiettivo. La zona cui si ispira la sinfonia offre percorsi incantati tra paesaggi onirici, laghi, castelli ed opere nate dall'ingegno umano, come il canale di Schwarzenbergl. Largo appena 4 metri, corre per 44 chilometri lungo il confine ceco-tedesco e ceco-austriaco e collega il corso della Moldava a quello del Danubio. Costruito tra fine '700 e inizio '800, porta la firma dell'architetto e ingegnere civile ceco Josef Rosenauer, cui fu commissionato dagli Schwarzenberg per poter rifornire Vienna di legname. Ad impreziosirne il corso, in parte incanalato in un tunnel, due porte in pietra in stile neogotico e napoleonico. (da Latitudines Life)
