Mortola Inferiore , o più semplicemente La Mortola è una frazione del comune di Ventimiglia , in provincia di Imperia . Sorge sulla statale 1 Via Aurelia che collega il capoluogo comunale al confine francese di Ponte San Luigi . Nella seconda metà dell'Ottocento la creazione dei giardini botanici Hanbury , uno dei giardini di acclimatazione più famosi d'Europa e del bacino del Mediterraneo , migliorò in modo sostanziale le condizioni economiche del paese . La locale chiesa è intitolata a San Mauro ; fu elevata al titolo di parrocchiale nel 1921 .
