La basilica di S. Giovanni Battista a Busto Arsizio (VA), fu edificata tra il 1609 e il 1635. La facciata - pure seicentesca nell'ordine inferiore di ordine ionico, con il protiro, i bassorilievi, le statue dei santi vescovi "milanesi" Ambrogio e Carlo nelle nicchie che affiancano il portale - fu conclusa tra il il 1699 e il 1701 nell'ordine superiore, composito, con la finestra ovale in asse col portale centrale, le statue dei due apostoli "romani" Pietro e Paolo, il frontone spezzato e ornato con le statue di quattro profeti e,al centro, il titolare S. Giovanni Battista, compatrono di Busto. Ho potuto scattare la foto in piena zona rossa, camminando dall'auto allo studio medico in cui dovevo essere visitato, avevo utilizzato la luce migliore al santuario di S. M. di Piazza, qui c'era già un'ombra dura a tagliare la superficie. #chiese #Barocco #architetturaBarocca
