Il Chareopyllum hirsutum L appartiene alla famiglia delle Apiaceae ed è normalmente conosciuto come Cerfoglio selvatico o Cerfoglio irsuto. Il nome generico deriva dal greco "kháiro" = "io rallegro" e "phýllon" = "foglia", significando il soddisfacimento procurato dalla vista delle belle foglie; l'attributo specifico, dal latino, si riferisce alla pelosità che la pianta solitamente presenta. E' diffuso in tutta Italia ad eccezione di Sicilia e Sardegna ed era presente in Puglia, ma non è stato più ritrovato. La pianta contiene oli essenziali e resine ed è stata usata, nella medicina popolare, come diuretico ed emmenagogo; contiene però anche un alcaloide volatile e tossico (cherofillina), che può provocare avvelenamenti. Scatto effettuato in Alta Valtellina (Valle dei Forni) nel mese di Luglio 2017.
