Oggi visita al parco archeologico di Castelseprio, La cui fondazione, come linea difensiva contro le migrazioni dei popoli germanici, risale al IV-V secolo. In quell'epoca è stata edificata la chiesa di Santa Maria foris portas che potete vedere in foto, monumento fra i più singolari e importanti dell'Alto Medioevo per l'eccezionale ciclo pittorico dell'abside orientale, datato tra il V e il IX secolo. Chiaramente la chiesa era chiusa per le misure anti covidaviro e pertanto non ho visto gli affreschi e tantomeno li ho fotografati. Vi regalo questa foto con il sacro edificio inserito nel meraviglioso contesto boscoso che caratterizza tutta la zona, in attesa di potervelo restituire interamente.
