at 18mm, 1/125 f/13.0, ISO 100, hand held. Monopoli (città), Italy.

La città di Monopoli (da Polis greco= città unica), ebbe origine lungo un porto canale naturale, posto sulla costa adriatica della Apulia. La costa si presenta molto frastagliata e ad intervalli quasi regolari vi era un susseguirsi continuo di cale o insenature più o meno grandi e frapposte fra queste, e fu su una di queste penisolette si formò il primo insediamento della città di Monopoli. Nell'XI secolo, a Monopoli, durante il periodo della dominazione normanna ci furono diverse modificazioni della cinta muraria della città dove le mura del lato nord costeggiavano la scogliera del porto canale (attuale via Barbacana). Verso occidente, invece, una parte confinava con la terra ferma ed era protetta da un fossato o da un torrente che ne faceva la funzione. (Nella foto quel che è rimasto di questa zona, un tempo fortificata). Ringrazio di cuore come sempre tutti gli amici /che che lasceranno un segno del loro gradito passaggio.
