...15 centimetri di altezza al massimo per un peso intorno ai 100 grammi. Sono le misure della più piccola tra le scimmie, diffusa nelle foreste pluviali dell'America Meridionale. Questo minuscolo primate, che sta tranquillamente nel palmo di una mano, vive in gruppi piuttosto numerosi, fino a una quindicina di individui, e popola le alte cime degli alberi dove trascorre la maggior parte del tempo in cerca di cibo. È onnivora, quindi si nutre di alimenti di ogni genere, dalla frutta agli insetti, dai germogli ai più piccoli animali della foresta, ed è particolarmente “golosa” della linfa degli alberi che succhia praticando centinaia di fori con i denti lungo il tronco.
