Il Castello di Torrechiara fu costruito tra il 1448 e il 1460 dal Magnifico Pier Maria Rossi: la sua funzione difensiva è attestata da tre cerchia di mura e da quattro torri angolari, la destinazione residenziale provata dalla ricchezza degli affreschi a 'grottesche' di Cesare Baglione. Straordinaria la "Camera d'Oro", attribuita a Benedetto Bembo, per celebrare, ad un tempo, la delicata storia d'amore tra Pier Maria e Bianca Pellegrini e la potenza del casato attraverso la raffigurazione di tutti i castelli del feudo.
