Questa foto è stata scattata all'alba, nella Valle dell'Omo, in un momento di tranquillità dopo una delle notti più difficili e conflittuali che ho vissuto in Etiopia. L'Etiopia è il secondo Paese africano più popoloso e la situazione è sempre conflittuale perché ci sono circa 80 gruppi etnici con lingue e culture diverse, e amministrare lo stato è molto complicato. Sono rattristato e scioccato dai violenti conflitti che stanno avvenendo in questi giorni tra il governo di Addis Abeba e la regione del Tigray. Il governo centrale ha oscurato tutti i mezzi di comunicazione e negato l'ingresso ai giornalisti: in queste condizioni di assoluta incertezza il bilancio delle vittime è sconosciuto e l'unica certezza è la fuga di circa 40000 profughi in Sudan. Spero che questo scontro che sta insanguinando il nord dell'Etiopia finisca presto, per una nuova alba di pace.
