Il pozzo, conosciuto come “Vera Ovale”, all'interno del giardino che circonda il Palazzo del Seminario di Lecce. Il manufatto è stato realizzato nel 1707 dall'architetto Giuseppe Cino ed è singolarmente rappresentato come un canestro di frutta con manico, adornato con ramoscelli e foglie di pietra della specie mediterranea dell'acanthus spinosus, raspi d'uva, sormontato in alto da una statua femminile oggi in parte mutila, affiancata dai putti reggi ghirlanda e delfini. All'architetto fu commissionata, dal vescovo Michele Pignatelli, la costruzione dell'intero Palazzo che iniziò nel 1694 per terminare nel 1709. Al primo piano si trovano il "Museo diocesano" e la "Biblioteca Innocenziana" che contiene oltre diecimila volumi, alcuni dei quali anche di epoca quattrocentesca e cinquecentesca. L'edificio è caratterizzato dallo stile tipico del barocco leccese. All rights reserved.
