Un gruppo di rocciatori immortalati prima dell'ingresso dei camminamenti della Grande Guerra. Le due finestre nella roccia erano punti di avvistamento usate dai militari italiani, da lì si possono ammirare le tre Tre Cime come vi proporrò nel primo commento. Il Monte Paterno è una montagna delle Dolomiti alta 2.746 m s.l.m.. Sorge nelle Dolomiti di Sesto al Confine tra Veneto e Alto Adige, a fianco delle più rinomate Tre Cime di Lavaredo. È storicamente famoso, dato che durante la prima guerra mondiale, si trovava lungo la frontiera tra il confine italiano e quello austriaco. Al suo interno furono quindi scavate alcune gallerie, tra cui la famosa galleria Paterno, per raggiungere la cima. Il Paterno è formato dall'intersezione di 3 creste: il Paterno vero e proprio a nord-ovest, la Croda Passaporto a sud e la cresta est, protesa verso il Pian di Cengia. Queste tre creste presentano diverse elevazioni e sono tutte attraversate dai resti dei camminamenti della Grande Guerra.
