Riposa in pace.”

I read your susy speech carefully. I can only share your thoughts in one way. European history has never experienced a period as durable and peaceful as the post-1945 period. The last madman who has devastated us in the soul, in the affections, in the economy, I hope remains a horrendous reminder of the posterity. Paradoxically, the advent of the nucleate era has at least calmed the recurrence of world conflicts. Finally, a commendation for the foresight of our fathers and grandparents who, even amid a thousand difficulties, controversies and even indecisions, founded the much-vituperated EU. If Italy were not a founding member country, with the economy, the inability to govern and administer chronically administer our boot, we would be economically plunged. But we know that a perpetual election campaign persists here. Sorry about the Susy shooting. Good we.
Bye gios :-P

Congratulations Susy.
Your caption is moving and genuinely touching.
I have been to Colleville sur Mer and La Cambe twice.
War cemeteries transmit - without proclamations - a powerful message of peace, a " never again" that should echo with conviction in the consciences of every human being and that, instead, cyclically, we return to having to invoke.
A warm greeting,
Andrea

I propose this photo again today, June 6, the anniversary of the Normandy landings.
I posted it 3 years ago, in the midst of the war on the pandemic. Today a more "traditional" war is raging with an uncertain outcome and unpredictable consequences that few, I think, imagined to see again on European soil... :-|

The photo is beautiful, I also made it last year even if not as beautiful as yours.
On the words: "And I know we owe it to you too if we live in a free country." ... If I were him, I would think: "After all these sacrifices of lives I see that it has served no purpose and you are point to head".

The caption is even moving so much is well written and felt by you and also further enhances an already excellent shot of his and very "powerful" from a narrative point of view. Behind an image like this, an important piece of Western history. Great photos, congratulations Susy.

Marcello
