Il Lago di Antrona è nato, intorno alla metà del 1.600, per una enorme frana che ha chiuso la conca dove scorreva un piccolo fiume di montagna, distruggendo una quarantina di case del sottostante abitato di Antrona Schieranco, quasi al termine della Valle Antrona (laterale della Val d'Ossola), e facendo un centinaio di morti. Il lago è posto a circa 1.050 m. slm. ed un sentiero, comodo e ben tenuto, permette di farne il periplo in circa un'ora dando anche l'emozione di passare dietro ad una cascatella. Scatto effettuato nel mese di Luglio del 2020.
