...Via delle Volte è una via situata nel centro storico medievale di Ferrara, e deve il suo nome alla folta presenza di volte e passaggi sospesi dalle quali è per gran parte attraversata. Questa sua particolare caratteristica è dovuta al peculiare svilupparsi della stessa Via delle Volte in profondità, e la risposta architettonica a questo fatto è stata appunto la creazione di numerosissimi passaggi aerei che potessero collegare i magazzini sulle rive del fiume (detti “fondachi”), alle botteghe-abitazioni concentrate invece nel centro cittadino. La via è lunga circa 2 chilometri e da essa si diramano le suggestive Via Crocebianca, Via Sacca e Via Colomba. Si tratta inoltre di uno dei passaggi storici più importanti dell'intera città di Ferrara, dal momento che nei suoi pressi si possono trovare diversi edifici risalenti al periodo trecentesco e quattrocentesco.
