Un fungo singolare, ma, da quanto ho letto, piuttosto diffuso in ambienti caldi dalla primavera all'autunno. Attira gli insetti che si cibano della gleba, una sostanza gelatinosa dall'odore nauseabondo contenente le spore, che è trattenuta dalla struttura alveolare a maglia visibile nella foto. In tal modo il fungo si assicura il rilascio delle spore a grande distanza con le feci degli insetti. (Colli asolani, giugno 2020)
