Origini della Cascina LA VOCAZIONE AGRICOLA Le origini antiche di Cascina Battivacco risalgono al XII secolo, quando si chiamava monasterium de Bativachia S.Eusebi cum S.Salvatore. La sua storia narra la tradizione rurale del territorio di Milano, dall'epoca delle marcite nelle Grange medioevali fino all'applicazione delle più recenti tecnologie agrarie. Prima che venisse donata nel 1879 dal Maestro Carlo Pozzi all'Ospedale Maggiore di Milano, la cascina era di proprietà delle monache di Santa Maria in Valle di Milano. Risalgono al 900 le abitazioni costruite per i salariati, oggi interamente ristrutturate e dedicate all'ospitalità turistica. Oggi, passeggiando tra le mura ed i campi di riso della Cascina Battivacco, ci si immerge nella realtà viva di una Milano che conserva i profumi di un tempo, in uno scenario rurale a due passi dal centro della città. La famiglia Fedeli, che gestisce questa stupenda cascina, dice: «Dal 1965 mettiamo dedizione ed impegno nella produzione di riso e mais, oltre al foraggio per l'allevamento dei nostri bovini di razza Limousine. Nel tempo, attraverso la professionalità e l'esperienza di quattro generazioni, abbiamo sviluppato competenze per la produzione di prodotti di altissima qualità. Il lavoro che svolgiamo quotidianamente è caratterizzato dall'utilizzo di tecniche ecocompatibili nel rispetto della tradizione rurale. La nostra missione è di portare in tavola la bontà dei prodotti naturali e genuini». E la sottoscritta testimonia la veridicità delle loro affermazioni, in quanto abituale consumatrice dei loro prodotti, come di quelli dei miei amati monaci dell'Abbazia di Chiaravalle. Un grande grazie a tutti a chi vorrà lasciare un segno del suo gradito passaggio.
