Los Caracoles in Cile fanno parte della strada internazionale che collega Cile e Argentina attraverso il famoso "Túnel del Cristo Redentor" (3209 m.s.l.m.). I "caracoles" non sono altro che pericolosi tornanti che collegano la strada nella Valle del Rio Aconcagua (Ruta 60) con il tunnel. In prossimità della fine dei tornanti si trova la meravigliosa Laguna del Inca (2853 m.s.l.m.), circondata dalle Ande e dal Cerro Tres Hermanos (Tre Fratelli, 4751 m.s.l.m.). Non è raro non trovare tracce di neve a queste altitudini durante l'estate australe.
