Oggi... 1° maggio 2020... ricorre il 26° anniversario della scomparsa di Ayrton Senna da Silva. Soprannominato "Magic"... era nato a San Paolo in Brasile il 21 marzo 1960 ed aveva avuto le prime esperienze corsaiole con i kart nel 1973 poi... aumentando sempre di categoria... era arrivato a gareggiare in Formula 1 nel 1984 su una vettura della Toleman motorizzata Hart. In questa massima categoria vinse i Campionati del Mondo nel 1988, nel 1990 e nel 1991... sempre a bordo di vetture McLaren motorizzate Honda. Nella sua carriera... in questa che è la massima formula... disputò 161 Gran Premi vincendone 41 e partendo in pole position 65 volte. Perse la vita domenica 1° maggio 1994... durante lo svolgimento del Gran Premio di San Marino sul Circuito del Santerno dedicato ad Enzo e Dino Ferrari ad Imola (Bo)... a causa di un guasto meccanico che lo fece uscire di pista alla curva del Tamburello. Era alla guida di una Williams FW16 motorizzata Renault. Quel Gran Premio di San Marino era già stato nefasto fino da venerdì 29 aprile quando… durante le prove libere… il brasiliano Rubens Barrichello era uscito di pista alla Variante Bassa con la sua Jordan motorizzata Hart procurandosi diverse fratture che non gli permetteranno di disputare il Gran Premio in corso: da ricordare che Senna... suo connazionale e mentore… andò a rincuorarlo in ospedale. Poi... sabato 30 aprile... durante le prove di qualificazione... la vettura Simtek motorizzata Ford Cosworth dell'austriaco Roland Ratzenberger uscì di pista alla curva Villeneuve... dopo il distacco di un alettone... facendogli perdere la vita a 33 anni. Infine… domenica 1° maggio… alla partenza la Benetton a motore Ford del finlandese J. J. Letho rimase ferma ed il portoghese Pedro Lamy non accortosi della cosa lo tamponò violentemente con la sua Lotus Mugen motorizzata Honda così che diverse parti delle due vetture volarono ovunque compresa la tribuna centrale dove tra gli spettatori vi saranno 3 feriti più uno molto grave che colpito da una ruota rimarrà in coma per tre giorni. Poi… al 7° giro… sarà Senna ad uscire di pista… e pure dalla vita terrena. Riportata ai box dopo l'incidente… dentro alla sua vettura verrà trovata una bandiera austriaca che Ayrton avrebbe voluto sventolare all'arrivo in onore di Ratzenberger che aveva perso la vita il giorno precedente. La fotografia qui visibile è stata scannerizzata da negativo colore Kodak Kodacolor 100 ASA e fu scattata con una fotocamera Canon F1 New dotata di ottica Canon FD 300 f 2,8 L. Il tempo di scatto fu con altissima probabilità di 1/500... quasi una regola per simili scatti a quei tempi con un teleobiettivo mentre... tutti i dati di scatto che compaiono stampati sotto alla fotografia... non sono da tenere in considerazione.
