Colibrì mirabile coda a spatola. Questo Colibrì è uno dei più rari e belli del Perù. Vive infatti solo in una valle del nord del Perù, la valle del rio Uctubamba; ha una coda lunghissima che può muovere in qualsiasi direzione, il suo volo ricorda quasi più quello di un grosso insetto. E' senza dubbio uno dei più bei colibrì! Grazie agli sforzi compiuti da alcune associazioni negli ultimi anni, per creare riserve e proteggere le ultime foreste di alta quota ormai purtroppo in gran parte disboscate la sua popolazione gravemente minacciata di estinzione è finora sopravvissuta. Speriamo il popolo Peruviano si renda conto prima che sia troppo tardi quali ricchezze rischia e rischiamo tutti di perdere.
