La Veronica fruticans jacq. appartiene alla famiglia della Plantaginaceae ed è comunemente chiamata Veronica fruticosa. Fiorisce da maggio ad agosto, nei luoghi aridi e sassosi e nelle fessure delle rocce, tra i 1.000 ed i 2.700 m. slm. in tutto il centro nord ed in Campania. Il nome del genere Veronica, secondo l'Arcangeli 1882, deriva dalle due parole "vera" e "unica", perché nell'antichità si riteneva che nessun altra pianta potesse possedere tante virtù, considerate uniche. Il nome specifico fruticans potrebbe derivare dal latino fruticem riferendosi forse alla base della pianta, che è legnosa, poco ramificata e che si alza appena da terra. Scatto effettuato in alta Valfurva (Valle dei Forni) nel mese di Luglio 2019 a circa 2.400 m. di quota.
