Nella chiesa di San Sebastiano,nella seconda nicchia di sinistra, ecco la Pietà, un'opera neoclassica di Benedetto Cacciatori, che è stato uno degli scultori più importanti e prolifici della sua epoca, ma dopo la sua scomparsa, avvenuta nel 1871, è stato quasi del tutto dimenticato. Tuttavia si assiste a una lenta riscoperta di questo grande artista nato a Carrara nel 1794: dopo la sua formazione avvenuta nella città natale con il padre e a Milano sotto Camillo Pacetti, Benedetto Cacciatori si trovò a lavorare per i Savoia, per i quali realizzò, tra le altre cose, il grandioso ciclo di sculture dell'abbazia di Hautecombe, e a creare opere per importanti committenze pubbliche, come le statue del Duomo di Milano.
