Colias alfacariensis, Ribbe, 1905 - Famiglia Pieridae - Sottofamiglia Coliadinae - Apertura alare: Da 3,7 a 4,8 cm. - Distribuzione in Italia: Presente in tutte le regioni, eccetto Sicilia, Sardegna e sud della Calabria. - Habitat: Praterie e ambienti asciutti dal livello del mare sino a 2000 m. - Periodo di volo: Polivoltina da metà aprile a giugno, da luglio ad agosto e da metà settembre a ottobre. - Pianta alimentare dei bruchi: Varie leguminose tra cui Hippocrepis comosa, Coronilla varia e altre dei generi Cytisus e Lotus. - Dimorfismo sessuale: La femmina presenta il colore di fondo delle ali biancastro. - Specie simili: Colias hyale che si distingue da C. alfacariensis per avere l'ala anteriore con l'apice più appuntito, la macchia arancione dell'ala posteriore pallida e la spolveratura nera basale dell'ala anteriore più estesa. Nel maschio di Colias hyale tutta la colorazione gialla è più chiara.
