Il giorno prima Marco l'aveva fotografata su una zona in rilievo della grande tundra di Barrow. Poche ore prima di partire, ho tentato anch'io e ho incontrato presto due soggetti, non schivi che però tendevano a rimanere piuttosto coperti tra le sterpaglie. Dopo qualche scatto più o meno riuscito, mi sono sdraiato a terra per godermi uno dei pochi punti asciutti di quel meraviglioso posto. L'aria era stranamente tiepida e gradevole. Con grande sorpresa la pernice, forse resasi conto della mia inoffensività, si accovacciava in un solchetto e mi faceva compagnia per quei bellissimi secondi. Tanta dolcezza che solo gli animali sanno dare.....quasi mi è sembrato inopportuno approfittare per scattare questa foto!
