Il Castello di Capestrano si trova in provincia dell'Aquila , all'interno del parco nazionale del Gran Sasso e Monti della Laga. Il Castello è stato costruito sui resti di una fortificazione medioevale, della quale rimane la torre prismatica. La struttura attuale è frutto di numerosi interventi legati alle famiglie che vi hanno risieduto, come gli Acquaviva, i Piccolomini ( ai quali è legato il nome attuale) ed i Medici, ai quali appartenne il castello fino all'abolizione della feudalità.La struttura dell'edificio attuale risale al 1485 e l'interno è stato completamente restaurato nel 1924, perdendo gran parte delle strutture originali. Attualmente è di proprietà del Comune di Capestrano ed ospita gli uffici del municipio e della Pro Loco. Nell'atrio del Castello è collocata una riproduzione a grandezza naturale del celebre Guerriero di Capestrano. Ps.
