Fontecchio è un piccolo borgo situato in Abruzzo, questa è la piccola piazza di epoca medievale rimasta inalterata nel tempo, dove è visibile la nota fontana. Posta ad un livello inferiore rispetto al piano della Piazza, vi si accede attraverso una breve scalinata in pietra, ed è il monumento simbolo di Fontecchio. Non si conosce l'autore né la data precisa della sua costruzione, ma essa è certamente opera del secolo XIV e ricorda nella fine fattura alcune fontane dell'Italia centrale, in particolare quella di Piano Scarano nel Viterbese. La fontana si compone di una vasca basale in forma di poligono a quattordici facce scandite da semicolonnine con basi e capitelli di coronamento che, continuando nel disegno sulla cornice d'affaccio, la rendono quasi circolare nei tratti mistilinei del perimetro. Al centro della vasca si innalza un fusto cilindrico ornato da quattro mascheroni che soffiano acqua dalle loro bocche di pietra, attualmente rivestite da tubi in piombo, sormontati da decorazioni di foglie d'acanto. La tradizione vuole che uno dei mascheroni avesse il tubo d'uscita in argento e fosse riservato esclusivamente ai baroni Corvi, signori di Fontecchio. Sulla sommità della colonna una finissima edicoletta di stile gotico, con archetti trilobati ed alta cuspide, poggia su una coppa circolare decorata da motivi scultorei a fogliame.
