“Fratello Elia nasce in Puglia il 20 febbraio 1962. Conduce una vita come altri suoi coetanei, nulla di particolare lo contraddistingue tranne la sua attitudine ad aiutare gli altri. All'età di vent' anni viene assunto alle Poste e deve trasferirsi a Milano. Un giorno il direttore lo incarica di consegnare un pacco presso il convento dei cappuccini, giunto all'indirizzo e tirata la cordicella che funge da campanello, il portone si apre e si affaccia un frate che lo invita ad entrare. Elia Cataldo appena varcata quella soglia ha l'impressione di essere entrato in un altro mondo e la sensazione forte che prova è quella di essere a casa sua … Dopo qualche tempo da questa esperienza ancora giovanissimo entra in un convento lombardo presso i Cappuccini e durante il periodo del noviziato (aveva 28 anni) riceve le stigmate, come certificato dall'illustre neurofisiologo Prof. Marco Margnelli (deceduto il 28 gennaio 2005).
