In tanti viaggi in Africa, ho incontrato di rado l'African wild cat. Sempre nel Kgalagadi, parco transfrontaliero tra Sudafrica e Botswana. Sempre immagini fugaci, furtive. Così anche in questo caso. Ma stavolta l'ho visto arrampicarsi su un albero e sistemarsi nell'incavo tra due rami. Ne vedevo solo la punta delle orecchie. Sono tornata tre giorni di fila, in orari diversi, aspettando pazientemente che si muovesse da lì. Niente. Poi, finalmente, ha deciso di affacciarsi.
