con Nikon TC-14E III, 1/500 f/7.1, ISO 1000, hand held.

Isola si Dt. Paul (Pribiloff, Alaka). Vista sulla cartina geografica sembra uno sputo nell'immenso Mar di Bering vicino alla linea del cambiamento di data. Girando l'isola ci si accorge che il posto tanto piccolo non è. Ci sono colline, piccoli specchi d'acqua, ruscelli. Una specie di piccolo mondo a se. Oltre gli uccelli per i quali siamo venuti, vive anche qualche mammifero tra cui la volpe artica. Una giornata di tempo clemente a giugno, può trarre in inganno. Qui le tempeste, la neve ed il gelo regnano sovrane per gran parte dell'anno ed il musetto di questa volpe sembra testimoniare tale dura esistenza. La mancanza dell'occhio sinistro mi ha istintivamente fatto pensare ad un soggetto in precario stato di salute. Dopo la foto l'ho seguita per qualche momento, vista correre con grande vitalità verso un nido di oche dal quale riusciva a "prelevare" un bell'uovo. A testimonianza di una vita tanto difficile quanto vera!
