La Maserati fu fondata a Bologna alla fine del 1914 da tre fratelli: Alfieri ed Ernesto… entrambi piloti… ed Ettore l'ingegnere : nella fotografia si vede la sede del primo insediamento a Bologna. Inizialmente… l'attività dell'azienda… era rivolta alla preparazione di vetture da corsa costruita dalla Isotta Fraschini poi… nel 1926… venne costruita la prima vettura su cui spiccò il logo che da allora campeggerà su tutte le vetture Maserati: il tridente. I fratelli Maserati vi rimarranno come consulenti fino al 1947… anno in cui torneranno a Bologna dove fonderanno la OSCA (Officine Specializzate Costruzione Automobili) che rimarrà attiva fino al 1967. Dalla fine degli anni '60 ai primi anni '90… dello scorso secolo… La Maserati vivrà un periodo di crisi dove entrerà a far parte… prima del gruppo Citroen… e poi di quello De Tomaso che nel 1993 la cederà alla Fiat che a sua volta, nel 1997, la passerà alla Ferrari per ritornare poi nel Gruppo Fiat nel 2005. Nei primi anni 2000 verranno commercializzati nuovi modelli di vetture che incontreranno favorevolmente i desideri di molti clienti e verrà espansa la produzione finché nel 2013, come ampliamento, verrà inglobata l'ex azienda di Nuccio Bertone a Grugliasco, nel Torinese, che verrà denominata Officine Maserati Grugliasco poco prima di entrare nel polo di lusso della Mirafiori Plant dove in seguito verrà aperto il terzo stabilimento. Nel 2014… anno in cui entra a far parte di FCA (Fiat Chrysler Automobiles) viene presentato il primo SUV sportivo denominato Levante che entrerà in produzione nel 2016.
