L'Arco di Trionfo è uno dei simboli più famosi di Parigi e celebra le vittorie di Napoleone, che ne ordinò la costruzione. L'Arco di Trionfo è, insieme alla Torre Eiffel, il monumento più rappresentativo di Parigi. Con i suoi 50 metri d'altezza e con una base di 45 per 22 metri, commemora le vittorie militari di Napoleone. La costruzione dell'Arco di Trionfo durò trent'anni: Napoleone ordinò la sua costruzione nel 1806, dopo la battaglia di Austerlitz, e l'edificazione del monumento fu conclusa durante il mandato di Louis-Philippe. L'opera architettonica fu progettata dall'architetto Jean-François Chalgrin. L'Arco di Trionfo è stato testimone di innumerevoli momenti storici, come il trasferimento del corpo di Napoleone (il 15 dicembre 1840) e le sfilate militari delle due guerre mondiali (nel 1919 e 1944).
