PUBBLICATA SUL NATIONAL GEOGRAPHIC DI MARZO 2021. Nell'estremo nordest dell'India, nella Ziro Valley, vivono gli Apatani, una tribù nota anche per la tradizione di adottare la pratica del "Tani", e cioè l'inserimento di due grossi tappi neri nelle narici nasali nelle giovani donne, che li portavano poi per il resto della loro vita. La pratica è stata per fortuna abbandonata, ma solo da pochi anni, ed è dunque ancora visibile nelle donne anziane; qui siamo in un fattoria isolata; la donna fotografata è ormai centenaria, o così dice. Qui è ripresa all'interno della sua casa, di fatto un unica grande stanza, tipica delle abitazioni rurali della Ziro Valley, in bambù e terra, con al centro il fuoco su cui si cucina e che funge anche, ovviamente, da riscaldamento; quasi tutte le case hanno almeno un cane o un gatto, oltre ai tipici animali da fattoria.
