Martina Franca è un comune italiano di 48660 abitanti della provincia di Taranto, in piena Valle d'Itria. Nota per l'architettura barocca e il festival musicale della Valle d'Itria, sorge sulle propaggini meridionali della Murgia, al confine delle province di Brindisi, Bari e Taranto. Posta sulle colline sud orientali della Murgia, in una posizione che offre splendide vedute sulla Valle d'Itria, si trova ad un'altitudine di 431 metri s.l.m. La fauna è caratterizzata dalla presenza di lepri, volpi, ricci, pettirossi, falchi e diversi rapaci notturni (civetta, gufo, assiolo e barbagianni), oltre ad una folta comunità di pipistrelli . Questi piccoli e delicati mammiferi notturni che trovano rifugio nelle numerose grotte del monte, si rivelano incredibilmente utili in quanto eliminano gli insetti nocivi per l'agricoltura, e contribuiscono a mantenerne integro il fragile ecosistema naturale oltre ad essere indice di un habitat incontaminato e ricco d'acqua. La flora si compone di tratti di bosco e di macchia mediterranea dove cresce spontaneamente il fungo cardoncello, alternati a oliveti e vigneti tra cui il Verdeca, il Bianco d'Alessano e il Primitivo Tarantino. Nell'agro circostante sono presenti numerose grotte. Nella frazione di Monte Fellone di notevole rilevanza archeologica risultano la Grotta Cuoco e la Grotta Monte Fellone. Di notevole interesse archittetonico il centro storico di Martina Franca, con i suoi monumenti di notevole interesse e l'eleganza delle sue vie e vicoli. Commenti e critiche sempre molto graditi.
