Hermit Ibis sent on February 22, 2019 (19:59) by Fulvio Lagana'. 31 comments, 2080 views. [retina]

at 380mm, 1/1250 f/7.1, ISO 400, hand held. Specie: Geronticus eremita

A spectacular shot Fulvio, filmed at the time when the earthworm is suspended in the open beak. Congratulations. :-o

If I am not mistaken it is the species, or among the species, which is trained with motor gliers to lead them back to the ancient migratory routes.
A wish for the species and a good one to the photographer ;-)

My goodness, what timing! :-D Very nice subject, and unknown to my eyes, I read in fact that it is not an autochthonous. I didn't understand if you photographed it in the lagoon or in the oasis that you mentioned in caption.
Congratulations and a greeting, GA

I went over a week ago, too. I have traveled all over the fenced area of the oasis but I have not seen much movement apart from a lesser red woodpeckers, herons and obviously storks. Complim Great Catch

A wonderful photo :-o :-o, on July 7, 2013 I saw them in Orbetello in the province of Grosseto and a young Austrian zoologist was changing the battery of the radio they had on their backs.
A greeting
Maurizio
