Prima ancora della mia partenza per Varanasi (probabilmente il motivo principale che mi ha spinto a partire in un momento così complesso della mia vita), oltre ad aver già più o meno immaginato i mille spunti fotografici che avrei trovato sul posto, mi ero messo in testa di cercare di realizzare qualche scatto ad una ragazza indiana vestita con i tipici indumenti indiani colorati. Non è stato facile per vari motivi. Inanzi tutto perché ogni strada ed ogni vicolo colorato sono trafficate da un quantitativo esorbitante di persone, ciclomotori e animali; e per quel che ho potuto vedere in questo soggiorno non è per niente facile incrociare una ragazza da sola in uno dei tanti vicoli colorati, e quelle poche volte in cui mi è capitato erano restie a farsi fotografare, al contrario della maggior parte degli uomini.?Con un po' di costanza e anche molta fortuna alla fine ci sono riuscito. Era quasi l'ora di pranzo del mio ultimo giorno a Benares, posto ideale con i suoi innumerevoli vicoli colorati. Mi trovavo nei pressi di un mercato adiacente al ghat centrale, quando ad un certo punto l'ho vista, in mezzo alla folla da sola intenta a coprirsi con il suo sari color verde. È lei mi sono detto.. Al massimo riceverò un altro rifiuto. L'ho osservata per un po' e alla fine mi sono avvicinato e le ho chiesto gentilmente se potevo farle qualche foto. Con mia sorpresa lei sorride e annuisce. E così tra uno scatto e l'altro mi ha raccontato chi è e cosa fa, mi ha accompagnato a vedere altri posti e a conoscere altre persone. Chi se lo sarebbe mai immaginato che il tutto si sarebbe trasformato in una piacevole breve esperienza. ?Ciao Dharia
