Due parole su questo Scalone di gala. Dopo l'incendio del 1837 lo scalone, che fu notevolmente danneggiato, è stato restaurato dall'architetto Vasilij Stasov, il quale vi apportò alcune modifiche, conservandone però in gran parte il carattere originale, ideato da Bartolomeo Rastrelli. Lo scalone colpisce per la sua opulenza, il fasto degli stucchi dorati sulle pareti, il bianco accecante delle sculture marmoree, le gigantesche pitture del soffitto, raffiguranti gli dei sull'Olimpo.
