, 1/250 f/9.0, ISO 400, hand held. Specie: Parnassius apollo

Hi Ann, it is a really nice butterfly that you find at medium high altitudes and it is a species protected for many years. It's not uncommon but it's very localized. Thank you, a big hug, hello Fabrizio

Hello Marcello, the Apollo is a particular butterfly and even if you take it in your hands do not ruin it as happens with others. Thank you, a dear greeting, Hello Fabrizio

Hats off to the execution... and lucky you that you presented yourself to wings completely open; Here there is a colony right on the other side of the country, in a former marble quarry, but it is one of those butterflies that still has not deified to "unfold" all its beauty :-D

The results obtained by hand are much higher than mine while using the tripod. Congratulations.

Hello Daniel, I thank you for the compliment for this butterfly among my favorites. With open wings I photographed almost always, but I photograph during the day when I'm in business and not early in the morning, as most photographers do, before they start moving, I think this is the reason. I wish you a good weekend, Hello Fabrizio

Hello Pier, the compliment is really very nice and thank you, but your shots for sharpness are perfect and you can get the most that can give you the equipment. When I took this picture the sky was a little covered and the Parnassius as it goes away the sun will stop and this gave me time to do more shots with a little calm, always helping me with my monopod. I wish you a good weekend, Hello Fabrizio

P.S. I also find that the monopod is a good compromise for butterflies in activity... and then in the mountains also serves as a cane downhill ;-)
