Piazza Massena è la più grande e bella piazza di Nizza. Ha il tipico stile sabaudo, infatti fino al 1860, la città era piemontese. Gli allestimenti successivi hanno migliorato l'originaria austerità, in favore di uno stile più moderno. La piazza è il vero cuore pulsante della città, meta dei turisti ma anche dei nizzardi. Nizza è sicuramente una delle città francesi che saprà meglio mostrarvi quanto questo popolo consideri con serietà la moda, il cibo e le tendenze. I negozi della Costa Azzurra sono uno specchio di questo modo di pensare, ragione per cui, chi cerca uno shopping di alto livello qui sarà senza dubbio accontentato. Numerosi sono i negozi eleganti che potrete trovare, alcuni dei quali recepiscono potentemente anche l'influenza della vicina Italia. Per chi ha poco tempo da dedicare alla visita e allo shopping in generale il consiglio è quello di dedicarsi solo a poche strade. Il quartiere dello shopping a Nizza si trova sopra Place Masséna, in cui grandi centri commerciali e negozi di tutti i tipi attorniano strade con nomi come rue Paradis e rue de la Liberté. Una delle prime istituzioni che potete visitare sono quindi i grandi magazzini della Galeries Lafayette, che raccolgono tutto il meglio che il commercio può offrire in quanto a articoli di gusto, abbigliamento e oggettistica. Nel mese di luglio come nel mese di gennaio questi grandi magazzini sono interessati da periodi di sconti. I passatempi culturali, come film e musica, li potete invece trovare da FNAC, recente scoperta ideale anche per i giocattoli. Una strada da tenere sicuramente presente per lo shopping è poi Avenue de Notre Dame, in cui si raccolgono i grandi marchi internazionali per piccoli e grandi. Una volta che sarete in rue de la Liberté inizierete a camminare nel regno delle grandi firme, vera passerella della moda francese. Nella Vecchia Nizza, infine, non dimenticate la rue Droite.
