Scanno è famosa anche per il costume tradizionale che viene indossato con orgoglio e dignità dalle donne del posto. L'abito è di tessuto di lana nero, che le donne anziane ancora oggi portano. E' formato da una lunga gonna a pieghe e da un giubbino (comodino), sopra la gonna si porta un grembiule colorato di tessuto damascato, che ne ravviva la serietà. Un fazzoletto di stoffa ornato da bottoncini d'argento copre il petto e attorno al collo c'è un merletto realizzato al tombolo. In testa si porta un cappellino di vari colori (cappelletto) e ai piedi delle leggere scarpine (scarfuori). L'abito nuziale viene portato con la dote ed è di colori vivaci, questa tradizione risale al Medioevo.
