A dispetto del nome questa pitta (Gymnopithys leucaspis) non si nutre di formiche, ma sfrutta l'impetuoso passaggio delle formiche, che provoca il sollevamento di insetti, per nutrirsi. Vive nel folto delle foreste e la poca luce presente obbliga ad iso elevati e diaframmi aperti...con tutte le controindicazioni del caso. (Panama, scorso aprile)
