Il lazzaretto di Verona è un lazzaretto la cui costruzione iniziò nel gennaio 1549 a Verona in località Porto San Pancrazio, vicina all'Adige, allora adeguatamente distante dalla città (ora popoloso quartiere). Lo scopo fu di ricoverare i malati contagiosi in località isolata e agevolmente raggiungibile attraverso il fiume.Il lazzaretto fu progettato, secondo il Vasari, dall'architetto Michele Sanmicheli, anche se secondo altri storici fu opera di Giangiacomo Sanguinetto, il quale nel giugno 1548 presentò alle autorità cittadine un modello per il lazzaretto. Non sono state comunque trovate prove certe circa l'autore dell'opera. Il nuovo lazzaretto venne completato solamente nel 1628, e in tempo per la peste del 1630, portata dai soldati tedeschi. Per la città il contagio fu un vero disastro: basti pensare che nel 1626 erano stati censiti 53.333 abitanti, che si erano ridotti a 20.738 alla fine del contagio: morirono dunque 33.000 persone circa. Nel tentativo di arginare l'epidemia le autorità sanitarie e cittadine cercarono di confinare i malati al lazzaretto: al culmine della pestilenza all'interno si concentrarono più di 5.000 appestati. Quella del 1630 fu l'ultima peste che colpì la città, ciò segnò quindi la decadenza del lazzaretto, ad eccezione di una ristrutturazione delle fondamenta eseguita nel 1742. Alla fine dello stesso secolo il suo utilizzo sanitario cessò, e il grande complesso venne trasformato in deposito di esplosivi. Oggi è in stato di completo abbandono.
