Nuraghe Santa Barbara a Macomer Il nuraghe Santa Barbara è di tipo complesso e risulta di notevoli dimensioni; è uno dei più noti dell'isola, costituito da una torre centrale, da un bastione quadrilobato costruito con blocchi di basalto dal quale si accede da un ingresso quadrangolare, e da un con cortile a cielo aperto. Dall'ingresso con architrave si accede ad un corridoio in cui vi sono gli accessi della torre centrale e di quelle secondarie anteriori. Internamente si trova una scala che introduce in un'altra torre e quindi sul bastione; un'ulteriore torre, di pianta circolare nella quale si accede direttamente dal cortile, contiene nicchie e stipetti. Sono presenti altre torri, ma ancora parzialmente da scavare. La torre centrale, che raggiunge un'altezza di 15 metri, è costruita con blocchi lavorati con cura; dall'ingresso si accede ad un andito con una nicchia e la scala. La camera del piano terra, è caratterizzata da tre nicchie disposte a croce. Al primo piano vi è una camera a pianta circolare illuminata da un finestrone trapezoidale ad arco. Si ipotizza anche la presenza di una terza camera. Attorno al nuraghe sono presenti i resti del villaggio a dimostrazione dell'uso del sito anche in età romana e medievale. Rilevato dal Lamarmora nel 1860 e menzionato dal Mackenzie nel 1918, il nuraghe fu scavato tra il 1979 e il 1981. (da nuraghi.com
