Primula, il significato del nome e leggende Il nome primula deriva dal latino Primus per indicare che si tratta di una pianta a fioritura precoce. La leggenda vuole che la prima Primula fu mandata da Apollo, figlio di Zeus, per sconfiggere il gelo e proteggere la Terra. Stando alla leggenda, il Sole inviò sulla terra una prima Primula magica per domare il gelo dell'inverno che aveva racchiuso la primavera sotto una grossa coperta di ghiaccio. L'inverno, a quei tempi, predominava sulle altre stagioni. A richiedere l'intervento magico furono gli animali dei boschi. Non è un caso che la primula, in natura, cresce spontanea in luoghi erbosi e boschivi. Da quel momento in poi, il gelo dovette rispettare il ciclo delle stagioni e, ogni anno, a mandarlo via, fu proprio la Primula. Ecco perché si dice che le primule annunciano l'arrivo della primavera! Un'altra legenda narra che San Pietro gettò dal cielo le chiavi del paradiso e, nel punto in cui le chiavi urtarono sul suolo, nacquero le prime piante di Primula. Grazie a questa leggenda, in Inghilterra le primule sono conosciute con il nome bunch of keys o pile of key che significa “mazzo di chiavi”. La primula, grazie alla sua leggenda, è divenuta il fiore simbolo della primavera. Rappresenta così la primavera della vita: la giovinezza. La primula è un fiore che cresce spontaneamente per annunciare la rinascita della natura. La vittoria del bene sul male, l'arrivo di una nuova prosperità. E' portatrice di sole e di abbondanza.
