Il 24 novembre a Santa Caterina si festeggia la santa con una la secolare tradizione della Focarazza Lo spettacolo è all'imbrunire, quando a illuminare Poggio Le Forche sono solo le fiamme che bruciano le frasche secche ma non lo “stollo”, la contesa si fa presto viva e laddove non esistono regole vige un solo ordine: portare dentro alla propria contrada “Lo stollo”. Quella della “Focarazza” di Santa Caterina, frazione del comune di Roccalbegna, è una tradizione che è arrivata intatta dal sedicesimo secolo fino ai giorni nostri, conservata gelosamente dagli abitanti di questo paese che ogni 24 novembre si impegnano a rievocarla arricchendola di spirito, passione e cultura. LO STOLLO Lo “stollo” che si contendono le contrade di Santa Caterina simboleggia il corpo della Santa delle ruote ecco perché è un rito che si ripete ogni 24 novembre giorno del martirio della Santa. Narra la tradizione che la giovane Caterina, gettata nella fornace ardente, ne sarebbe miracolosamente uscita illesa, sottoposta al supplizio della ruota dentata, infine decapitata; così in questa notte di fine novembre la gente si raccoglie intorno alle fiamme della Focarazza per sentirsi più vicina ed in contatto con la Patrona, desiderosa di partecipare al rito. L'origine della festa, nonostante la tradizione non è documentata storicamente, si può ricondurre allo stesso secolo ( XVI ) in cui venne edificata la cappella alla Santa; inizialmente semplice fuoco propiziatorio, diviene poi una vera e propria gara con la nascita delle numerose contrade. #Fuoco
